"Transitional Employment is the life force of the Clubhouse." ~Barb Birdsong

Employment is the center of all we do here at Wallingford House. Work gives meaning and purpose to our lives. It helps us to use our abilities and develop our strengths. As member James King shares, “Work gives me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. When I go home I feel like I’m closer to my goals."
Our Transitional Employment (TE) program provides employers with consistent, reliable coverage for part-time, entry-level positions. TE positions belong to the Clubhouse. A member stays in a TE job for six to nine months, at which time the Clubhouse trains and places a different member. The Clubhouse develops and maintains a relationship with the employer and provides onsite training and support with back up coverage.
TE can be a new hope for someone who has been told they would never work again, or have thought that themselves. It gives our members the support they need to re-enter the workforce. Through working, our members regain confidence by using their skills to contribute to the larger community.
